    Replace a rad bleed valve?

Lighting the gas! I don't know what that means! Not sure. As said, it never used to need bleeding as much when it bled from the flat screw when undone. I'm blaming the whole valve but it could be something completely different. Cheers Staro

    Replace a rad bleed valve?

Hi, I have a rad which needs bleeding virtually every week! (image in my album) It's a self bleed valve, I believe, which is not self bleeding anymore. Undoing the flat head screw does not any longer release the air. I have to use a spanner on the nut where the holes are. This rad did not...

Cannon Manor B.F Gas Fire not staying alight

Hi, A man has visited and has replaced the thermocouple but that is not the major problem. The fire needs a new interruptor swicth which he hopes to source but may not be able to as the fire is over 20 yrs old. This is just info for anyway else who has had or will have this issue with this...

Cannon Manor B.F Gas Fire not staying alight

I gave it good clean! Took off the top canopy, bottom fender, glass screen and fake coals. Could see the burners, pilot jet and termocouple. It wasn't particularly dusty or dirty. Gave everything a good hoover and blow and the problem remains. A man is coming to fix!

Cannon Manor B.F Gas Fire not staying alight

Thanks for the tip. I havn't noticed a decrease in the power of the pilot flame though. After 3 hours I would of though it would be hot enough. Usually, the first use of the fire in the winter season requires the control knob to be held down for a long time but as we use the fire more, that...

Cannon Manor B.F Gas Fire not staying alight

Hi, We have a Cannon Manor B.F Gas Fire that is not staying alight. The pilot lights (although I have to change the battery every 3 weeks or so) and 15 secs should be enough time to hold the control knob down for the fire to stay alight. It doesn't! Often it can take 15 mins but yesterday I...

Blocked Feed and Expansion tank within Fortic cylinder

Hi, We have a Fortic Cylinder. There is a feed and expansion tank within the header tank on the top. There is a blockage somewhere as the radiators are not filling up. Any ideas on how to locate the blockage and clear it? We have removed the pipe from the feed and expansion tank that...

Replace rad with new rad with TRV; no other TRVs in house!

The two new upstairs radiators were installed on Friday and are very warm! However, according to the plumber there is a problem with refilling the system. There is a blockage in the expansion feed tank in the header tank thus the system is refilling a drip at a time! There are 3 other...

Replace rad with new rad with TRV; no other TRVs in house!

Hi, Thanks for the replies. Yes, they are supplying the rads. The room thermostat is downstairs in the lounge. The new rad with TRV is an upstairs bedroom. Any further thoughts? Is it worth me keeping the rads to attempt to sell as scrap?! Thanks

Replace rad with new rad with TRV; no other TRVs in house!

Hi, I have been quoted £400 to replace two smallish rads. One of the new rads will have a TRV as I need to accurately control the temp of the room. No other rads in the house have TRVs. We have a hot water tank with a header, both in the airing cupboard and a 'normal' boiler' in the kitchen...
