Thanks pto. Iv'e just checked and there's a small diameter horizontal fan feeding the vents on the top of the oven. Haven't taken it out yet but looks like it may be the culprit.

Thanks for the advise Joe. 10L of Johnstones Covaplus Vinyl Matt is only £2 more than the non-vinyl, and I have a 5 year old son who's boundarys don't always exclude the ceiling. Would the vinyl be a better choice or is the standard matt ok, and what would give the best finish ?
