Velux Window frame Leaking - top corner

I'll bear that in mind. It's higher than most windows because its one of those attics with a high roof space. Window isn't reachable standing at floor level. I need to check it is a Velux. Are there other brands? I'll Google that, it may just be Velux style. Top of the frame outside is very...

Velux Window frame Leaking - top corner

Hi, So it's leaking a little when it rains heavy above the bar. I could feel some foam when I pushed my finger to feel for the leak source and that's where I felt the water. I've read a little, there's flashing out there and fixings, foam in there etc. It is quite old this window. Are these...

    Fit a Remote Expansion Vessel

I see they come pre-charged with gas. Most convenient place for this is right beside the boiler anyway.

    Fit a Remote Expansion Vessel

Hi, Someone's left the filling loop wide open in my tenants house for months, I wasn't aware. Anyway, cut a long story short... I'd appreciate some straightforward advice. Gas engineer I use is busy for at least 2 weeks, they need it sorted much quicker than this. I have a trade and basic...

    Pyronix alarm stuck!

Ladders handy to get to the bell box? Novice solution is to kill the mains power, disconnect the panel battery and then climb up and disconnect the batteries in the bell box. Apologise to the neighbours afterwards

Small rain leaks around chimney stack

I see what you mean now. I can't say for 100% but I'm sure it's the chimney. I'm due to visit and take another look. Friday would be good because it looks like crap weather.

Small rain leaks around chimney stack

No, the WC is on 1st floor coupled up just near that window behind the pipe. Wastepipe looks to come out a long way below it from that pic  So the S&C fillets are those slabs above and below the stack making up the edge. Were they an original feature when the house was built? Do you...

Small rain leaks around chimney stack

Late now and I'm up early but thanks for the really useful input. Loft is a double bedroom. It's actually tenanted but yes, they reported it dripping from just down from the chimney stack when it was raining heavy and there's a discoloured patch by the supporting beam in the attic just before...

Small rain leaks around chimney stack

Hi, I would really appreciate advice as I'm no roofer. I have an end terrace house with, as the thread title suggests. A roofer came to look late in the day and condemned my roof basically. "It's tired, it needs replaced - £5,500 will do it". It was just a quick peek from ladders and, competent...

Pyronix Enforcer - Mains absent alert volume

Yes but those options don't work. Change timers menu just gives option of entry/exit/sirens and I have the day alarm at 2 already.

Pyronix Enforcer - Mains absent alert volume

Hi, When the mains is removed, after a short while the panel sounds at full volume. Does anyone know how to turn this down please?

    Pyronix Enforcer questions

I fitted the pet friendly version in my house. I used small wedges behind the sensors to make them aim a bit lower because I found they weren't sensitive enough at first. Tilting them down did the trick for me. Touch wood the cat hasn't set it off yet and I switch on the alarm every night.

    Solar Panels

The reduced FIT would be for new customers, if there are any. I'm in agreement but then I'm politically left of centre. Didn't know this group was full of lefties  That being said, I have to live in a country where the majority cast votes based on God knows what reasoning, I plot a...

    Solar Panels

Tesla powerwalls are an interesting development for storing the generated energy. Expensive at present even though Tesla have indicated that they won't overly capitalize on the technology. Rightly or wrongly, Tories cutting the FIT subsidy have murdered this as a domestic innovation for the...
