    Servis 6516 - noisy spin

Well pardon me for asking a question! None of the faults in the link apply in this case. The fault has been diagnosed as a faulty drum that has gone 'out of round'. Maybe you should add this to your list of faults and be a bit more polite in future. :!:

    Servis 6516 - noisy spin

Guys - our Servs m6516w has become very very noisy on spin - any clues? I've had the back/top off and all looks ok - nothing hanging or loose as far as I can tell. Assuming I need an engineer, anyone know a competent spannerman near Chester?

    Rad without a TRV

No gas fire. Seems to me that the boiler is only just up to the job - it's ok without the hot water on but the lounge rad takes an age to get hot when it's on. I think it's working fine but is a bit weedy for this application. Would the lounge rad be the last one in the system and thus be last...

    Rad without a TRV

Thanks Bahco - now, if only I knew what a bypass was... (other than being a big fast road) Bathroom rad does has a TRV

    Rad without a TRV

The only rad in the house without a TRV is in the lounge. Is this the usual choice? (Baxi solo boiler, 3-bed det house.) Thermosts is also in the lounge.

    Noise when heating goes off

It's a sticking microswitch on the circuitboard. Mine's doing the same thing (also a Baxi Solo). Happens when the pump is being switched off. I assume the switch will stop working eventually. New circuitboard?

    £115 sound fair...

24 hours on - all working well. I am amazed at how quiet the system is now - looks like the old fan has been getting noisier for a while but we hadn't noticed the gradual increase. Until it started sounding like a 1927 Fordson tractor. The other point, from my question about pump speeds -...

Ok, repairs completed. Part was in a sealed Baxi box, fitted in 15 minutes, all systems go. A job well done. :D

    Pump speed?

I see, said the blind man. I turned it to its slowest speed last night and the house certainly seemed warmer, though that may have been me imagining it! Thanks for the info.

    £115 sound fair...

'tis being done through a friend of a friend, but he's a Corgi registered spannerman, so if it goes again I'll send Big Jock and his mates round to have a word...

    Pump speed?

Forgive my ignorance guys, but why does the pump have different speed settings?

Hmmm. Seems like a very good price, then. Thanks guys.

    £115 sound fair...

Job's being done tomorrow so I'll report back on whether it's a good deal or not! Thanks for the replies, guys. Of course, it's my diagnosis of a knackered fan so we'll see if I'm right. Very noisy, runs for a while then judders to a halt, a blast of WD40 gets it going again for another couple...

...to replace the fan on a Baxi Solo 2? :?:

    Short and sweet! :)
