Re-wiring a very dodgy phone socket.

So you'd install the extension socket next to the existing BT one, and wire the extension socket into the removable front panel of the BT one? Can I buy a BT socket ( just to neaten things up a bit ), or are they not on general sale?

Re-wiring a very dodgy phone socket.

I admit that I am partly to blame for this one. I urgently needed to hook up broadband about a year ago, so soldered the phone wires up as pictured below. Now that I am in the process of decorating the hallway, I really need to sort out the mess I have partly created. From the pictures...

Replacement Fluidmaster Quiet Valve Float -Still Overflowing

From the beginning. The valve on my Fluidmaster was not shutting off, and would not stop filling the cistern. The water would continuously overflow into the top of the tube which goes straight into the toilet pan. This would mean our watertank was forever filling up - very noisy, and was also a...

Thermostat dies, new one blows the fuse. HELP!

Also, I have just removed the new thermostat, leaving the wires bare, and replaced the blown fuse. The control panel has powered back up again, so it would certainly point to how the new thermostat was wired.

Thermostat dies, new one blows the fuse. HELP!

Just want to make sure I understand what is going on here. This is the flex which was going into the Danfoss thermostat, L, N & E - although are you saying that these wires may not actually be what they appear to be. This flex is going into the ceiling and I assume it is going into the box...

Thermostat dies, new one blows the fuse. HELP!

Right then here goes. This is the new thermostat. It is a Wickes home brand one, but looks very similar to the one I took off, as you will see in a moment. This is the diagram which I drew, it is on a small sticker on the inside of the new thermostats housing. This is my old...
