    Rebuilding a compressor

Aftermath of someone elses "care", pictures... Saved low pressure piston. LP side of crank is also fine, no scratches/grooves. And surprisingly cyllinder inserts/liners are absolutely pristine, both of them. If not for the chip at the bottom of HP liner, cyllinder block would have been ok as...

3 phase is nothing. Just replace electrics with 1ph - done. Simples... If it only were that simple :D

    Rebuilding a compressor

Well you wouldnt normally run an expensive sort of compressor like this. New B70 units come at about 1k plus quid. Just for the pump itself... It pains me to see things like this... Even if i find part supplier in all probability it will be expensive to fix. Hence writeoff, as i cannot afford to...

    Rebuilding a compressor

They have a tool shop in Dungannon, close to me, but to my knowledge they only sell tools, no service. Will have to call them up on monday, but i dont have high hopes.

    Rebuilding a compressor

Sadly, i have to report that compressor is a write off. Taken off compressor unit, disassembled it. 1. One of the pistons, connecrting rod and rings are in bits (smaller one, high pressure ?); 2. Broken pistons crank shaft side torn to shreds; 3. Cyllinder liner chipped on the bottom. 4...

    Rebuilding a compressor

Got the puller... And here's the first hurdle - the wheel is so seized on i'm afraid to break it. Puller damaged some of the fan blades on it, but no biggie, however after considerable effort and heating and loads of wd40 it didnt move a millimeter... Rechecked it for setscrews, just in case...

    Rebuilding a compressor

Oh dang it. Any ideas how to pull the wheel off the shaft ? Pullers i find here are not big enough. Inner hub diameter is 140mm, thickness about 45mm. Not keen on banging on the shaft...

    Rebuilding a compressor

The pressure switch is going one way or the other - its for 3ph. I would love to test the tank hydrostatically, yeah, but cant find anyone local. Thats the one expense i would justify, tbh.

I will be flushing it anyway, then inspect it with endoscope. Need to figure out how to undo 65mm bung... Compressor in question:

    Rebuilding a compressor

I'm working on a budget of zero. Just spent figton of money on laser cutter, wife's gonna have a fit if i spend anymore... So, whole kurust/redox/hammerite treatment might not fly as too expensive. Wirebrush+paint direct to steel works ? Or do i absolutely have to primer it ? Paint direct to...

    Rebuilding a compressor

Hello people. I've been given an old 200L compressor, with 2stage ABAC B70(B60?) air pump. Its been sat for a while, fins are dirty, no intake air filter box, but other than that it got all the bits attached. Except motor, left it where it was stored as it weighed 3/4 of the compressor+tank...

Long belt grinder belts, where to buy ?

I'm planning on building myself a 72x2" belt sander. It seems the standard is pretty much american. Where to i get belts of this size in UK ? 50x1830mm ? Ebay doesnt seem to have any good selection ? Looking for a starter kit with most common grit grades (80-400 ?).

    Garden deck anchoring

I'm thinking on building a deck over my messy back garden. Grass is massacred by ten ton front loader wheels (dont ask). No point digging it out as there's clay right under. Hence the deck. However, we here get some severe winds and i'm not confident its not gonna fly away one day in november...

I'm about to punch a wall. Help. Bandsaw question/rant.

Its a black&decker 339, a very small saw. just maneuvering the blade between the guides is a bit of a fiddly job.

I'm about to punch a wall. Help. Bandsaw question/rant.

Not spoked, solid. Thats actually a great idea. I might make some holes in the wheels, drilling symmetrically for balance i'd assume. Hm...
