Build over single skin converted garage

After quite some time I finally have engineering plans for the first floor ! The plan is to build up the piers and use an L shape frame which will support the new floor, timber walls and roof. There are also two columns that support a steel ridge and a cranked beam. In the below drawings C2 and...

While i was away i asked the neighbour to top up the water in the loop as they have the same boiler. They reported that the hand valve was stuck which i know one of the two does require a bit of force When i came back i topped up the loop, boiler fired up properly, but rads wouldn't get hot...

Hi all, We have been away for two weeks and upon returning the boiler had a fault due to low pressure. I have topped up the loop and fired up the boiler then put the heating on but no hot water going to rads or underfloor heating. The hot water is working fine It feels like something's...

Build over single skin converted garage

Thanks for your reply. The box lintels are original, and have them all around the garage, looks to me like bridging between piers on the place that there is not the main cavity of the house. My SE is not font of the idea of building timber frame on top, as he doesn't see how 6'' timber will rest...

That garage has been converted in 2021 by having stud walls inside the single skin. The single block skin has block piers across and on top are resting box...

Hi all, I'm starting a loft conversion in a victorian terrace house. as part of the conversion i will be reroofing the front pitched roof that will stay as is. I will be replacing the old felt with a tyvek and new artificial slates. However i'm getting a bit confused with the different views...

    Loft conversion - Parapet wall

Thanks for your reply. I had a word with my neighbor and he hinted that he expects me to build on the inside of the double brick wall. However, i don't see how a builder will be able to hang tiles and do flashing in between the gap which will be only around 200mm?

Hi all, We are starting a loft conversion in our mid terrace property that is in the photo. Our neighbors on the right (mid terrace as well) have already had a loft conversion some years back and before we bought our house. Our neighbors on the left will also be starting a loft conversion...

Hi all, I would like to move the staircase of my house from the middle that it is now to the side. Also one of the two walls that "encloses" the staircase to be knocked down from top to bottom (first floor and ground floor). The staircase has been moved in the house next to me. I have...
