    Looking for round toilet seat

Hi All Sounds really silly to ask this, but some how cannot find anyone selling a round toilet seat. Our downstairs bathroom has a round toilet pot (as against the more common oval or the newer d shaped) , probably used to save space. The toilet seat has done its job for the last 8 years...

    draft proofing recessed down lights

Hi All I have 6 tilting downlights in our kitchen extension. There is slanting tiled roof on top with just a membrane under it. The recessed lights are fixed in the flat ceiling . Now on a very windy day, the downlights start whistling and I can feel cold air coming down from them. I have...

Earthing gas main in a flat.

Well spotted. Its was a nail that has been living there for the last god know how many years.. Its been relieved of its duty now.. The green cables are 30-40 years old. Any chances that older regs allowed such things?

Earthing gas main in a flat.

Great. Thanks for the guidance. Is MET required only if I cannot squeeze another green yellow copper cable in the PME connector? or its a requirement/regulation by itself to have a MET ? (The wiring in the picture is 30 years old, so I am assuming lot of regs have changed) with regards...

Gas meter and earthing- size of cable

I have been asked to earth the gas meter to the main's earth at the CU when we replaced the boiler. I am renovting the flat ( 1st floor ) now and have found a way to do it. The gas main comes up the central shaft and the meter is in the kitchen. The cable needs to run around 20 meters...

Changing balast of a T8 florucent tube

I guess the original one has everything in a small sleek package 1cm*2cm*15cm. So you are right need to check the size of the replacement. Although having a second thought now as ballast will cost around 8 pounds with shipping and the new tube costs around a 10ner then might as well spend...

Changing balast of a T8 florucent tube

Hi All Last week the kitchen florucent tube T8 -56W started flickering. (http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/9281088.htm) As we were between some heavy cooking we let it do so for a while, but then the tube made a small 'phuck' sound and gave up. I noticed that the difuser has...

    Earthing the gas mains

Appreciate the thoughts. In fact I was wondering : if you are allowed to put 4 earth wires into a MET and then one to go to the actual earth itself is considered as "continuous" connection to the earth. Then I can use a MET (no clue to what it costs) at the water pipe to connect the earth lead...

    Earthing the gas mains

Also will it be better to have a earth wire connecting the gas main running from the water mains rather than not having any all?

    Earthing the gas mains

Not sure. Will check this out today. Is this how a MET looks like (just picked a reference image of web to compare)?
