Approx costs for small dormer rennovation

Hi all, I have a small dormer approx 2.5 metres wide similar height, with a sloping flat felted roof. The exterior is painted wood weather board which is on each side of the dormer and on the front around the main window. The boarding is looking pretty tired now so I am looking to get the...

Removal of light scratches from polished porcelain tiles

Hi, I just wondered if anyone has successfully polished out light scratches / haze, on high gloss glazed porcelain floor tiles. I have tried t-cut and glass polish but no joy. If anyone has had success doing this it would be good to know how it was done. Many thanks.

Running a seperate fridge and freezer from one socket

Hi all, hope you can help. I have a double socket in the wall. From one of the sockets the washing machine is connected and from the other I would like to run a separate single fridge and single freezer, probably via an extension cable. Is this ok to do? Thanks

    Water hammer - MegaFlo tank

Thanks, I did wonder about the air gap on the Megaflo, I did look at the Tundish and although not dripping, it is wet to the touch. The instructions seem fairly straightforward to recharge the airgap, so may give that a go and see if it does anything

Its a loud vibrating noise that last for approx 4-5 seconds stops and then starts again after about 20-30 seconds all the while the shower is on. Doesn't do it when the hot taps are used. In the downstairs...

Hot water flowing from vent pipe into loft tank

Hi Just to provide a final update on this. The section was cut out and replaced today and I'm glad that I did so; the 15mm feed was almost blocked, the pipe between the feed and the pump inlet had 3-4mm thick scale around it and the 28mm pipe section between the vent and the feed was worst of...

Hot water flowing from vent pipe into loft tank

Thanks gasguru, the pump over is not happening on setting 1 now, I think the warm water is due to the blast of water everytime the boiler shuts off as it maintains temps. I guess this is still pump over but at least it not continuous as before. I know I need to replace the vent / feed section ...

Hot water flowing from vent pipe into loft tank

Yes, that's bad! When bleeding the radiators the water is clear, the few I have taken off and blasted through had a fair amount of brown/ black sludge in them

Hot water flowing from vent pipe into loft tank

Also think I've just figured out why the water is still warm. Took the thermostat up in the loft. I turned up the heating and the pump switches on, I hear a gurgling coming from the vent pipe but no water, when I turn the heating down and the boiler switches off a quick blast of hot water comes...
