Chris, sorry for the long delay in replying to you.
The height difference is around 15 mm and the fitting is at an angle of around 18-20 degrees. I've had another look at the fitting, and its not fixed into the wall and could be removed. I twisted it a bit and pulled it out and I could then see...
I'm in the process of refurbishing a cloakroom and replacing the old close coupled toilet. The multikwik pan connection is cemented into the wall, and there is a cast iron soil pipe on the other side of the wall. I want to avoid having to remove this connection if possible. I've attached a photo...
I live in an older property where some of the original timber floorboards are sloping up to 40mm from level.
I'm planning to get rigid LVT click flooring fitted and am looking for advice on how to level the floor. I understand that taking up the boards and either packing the joists or bolting...
My thoughts exactly. Take the free boiler and if it lasts for a few years, he will still have saved money on lower bills with the more efficient boiler until it packs up. There is also the chance that it will last for years without any problems.
Ian, He's not moaning about the choice or warranty, but I don't think it's unreasonable to want to avoid potential problems with a boiler that only has a two year warranty by upgrading to a model with a longer warranty and pay for the upgrade himself.
I'm looking for some advice on the Scottish Government scheme to provide free replacement gas boilers and radiators to people on low incomes.
One of my relatives qualifies for this scheme and they have been advised that they can get a replacement boiler, all radiators replaced and underfloor...
The house was built around 1905, so the floor is traditional timber floorboards.
Tigercubrider, I take it from your reply that there are glues available that could stick wooden studs to ceramic tiles? Are there any that you could recommend?
Thanks
My hall is tiled with ceramic tiles which extend under the stairs (which are currently opened up).
I'm looking at closing off this space and creating some storage cupboards, but I'm not sure what would be the best way to attach the stud work for this to the ceramic floor.
I think the best...
I removed a section of the plaster and the laths are overlapped.
My view was that this would mean that they would have to come off, but someone who came to give me a quote for the job said they didn't think this was necessary, even after I pointed out that the laths were overlapping. This...
I have some walls with old lath and plaster where large areas of the plaster has detached from the laths.
I'm planning to have the old plaster removed and the walls redone with plasterboard. Is it necessary to remove the original laths, or can the plasterboard be attached over these?
Thanks.
I could be wrong, but I'm assuming that the technical staff at Historic Scotland would have a good idea of the right approach to use in older properties. They have published a number of case studies on projects they have been involved in. Here is a link to one in Glasgow...
