    More cabinet painting

I took my MDF cabinet doors off to prime and paint, and am now going to give them a finish with Sadolin Extra Durable clear. It's been a nightmare keeping the cat and dog away from the drying doors, and I wondered if it'll make much difference to give them this final protective coat in situ...

    Cabinet painting

Did you take the doors off to work on, or paint in place? I took my MDF cabinet doors off to prime and paint, and am now going to give them a finish with Sadolin Extra Durable clear. It's been a nightmare keeping the cat and dog away from the drying doors, and I wondered if it'll make much...

What is this part found under my washing machine?

My Indesit washing machine hasn't been draining properly, and I suspect that slight odour of dampness in the air may be coming from it! I pulled it out and found this (attached photo) lying on the floor underneath. Does anyone happen to know what it is? Is it from the machine? Thanks

    bathroom lights touching loft insulation?

Hi there. My husband installed recessed eyeball lights in our bathroom some years ago. Since then, we have kept the loft insulation away from the lights (where they come up into the loft). He also lifted the flooring at that part. Our bathroom, understandably, gets pretty cold. I was...

    No Hot Water

Hello again. Thanks to everyone who replied. I tried the power flush at two different points in the system to try and make sure it was effective. This made a slight difference, now having tepid hot water. Removed connections to flush hot water tank feed and return alone when I stuck a pencil...

    No Hot Water

Hello folks, I have a Potterton Suprima boiler feeding an open, garvity fed heating system. The heating is fine, hot radiators ground floor and first floor. When running on hot water only I get "kettling" sound at the boiler and then banging pipes. The hot feed from the boiler to the hot water...

    Replacing concrete steps

Hi folks. Our concrete steps up to the front door have really suffered over the last 2 winters. There are big chunks missing, and they really need to be replaced. Repair doesn't seem to be an option because they're hollow in behind. We just got a builder's estimate. He is quoting £800 plus to...

    Adjusting an aluminium door

I'm not convinced that will solve it. If the rubber strips push the door out more, the lock won't slot into it's keeper. As it is, it's catching the edge of the strike plate. The door has to be pushed in slightly to make it lock. It seems to be the shoot bolts that have moved. There is no...
