6 panel door installation - doors need to be cut down

If they are the hollow type ones then cutting that much out won't leave much left for the door skin to stick to and the doors won't last long as you will have reduced their overall strength. Solid wood doors are easier but you can get doors made up to the correct size it just costs a touch more.

    Help please. Big floor problem

Sorry I never did reply with what happened. Well a friend is in the flooring buisness so he came round and sorted it for me. First off he used a grinder on the floor to remove and loose stuff and bitumen. This was attatched to the biggest hoover I've ever seen. Next up he primed the floor...

    Renault Trafic 1.9TDI

Lift the engine cover and airbox and check the injector wiring for signs of chaffing. Also worth cleaning the egr valve out as these get seriously clogged on the 1.9 dci engine.

    Reliable T-Handle Hex Key Set

I've had a set of Bluepoint ones from snap-on for about 10 years and they've taken a pasting without any problems. The good thing about them is the weight and balance of the handle which makes spinning allen screws out quicker than the plastic handled other stuff.

Comparison of impact drivers versus cordless drills

I've had a Hitachi 14v impact for years and it's been great. Bought originally for ply lining vans etc (no need to pilot the steel work it just drives the screws straight through so saves masses of time when you have to line 30 vans in a day) Since then it's been used on various fencing, decking...

Change of use from pub to dwelling

Of the two I'm looking at, one has parking at the front that can be changed into a garden/parking and the other has a passageway that leads to a rear courtyard which is big enough to drive a car through.

Change of use from pub to dwelling

Anyone on here done this or have any experience with this? I've just about finished the house I presently live in and am moving closer to family so on the hunt for a new home. What I have noticed is there are quite a few small pubs for sale that are no longer used. Now as I prefer shall...

Possible electrical problem - loose connection arcing?

Have you got a dishwasher? Mine had a small leak which now and again would make a pop or crack type of noise. (I didn't know it was the dishwasher at the time) Then it finally went and popped the breaker. I could smell a very faint burnt smell so switched off all the power and found it was the...

    Split tread on stairs

If you can put up with a little extra height on the step maybe you could us a piece of good quality 3/8th ply. Remove the gripper rods. Cut the ply to fit exactly making sure the edge is shaped to match the rest of the step. (Get the grain to run opposite to the steps grain.) Clean off...

    Floor conundrum

I am in the process of attempting to complete my house which has been a bit of an ongoing task (two years so far) and have come to needing to sort out the kitchen and hall floor. The problem I have is it is an ex council house and as such had various different cubbys, bin stores and walls...

    Self build extension/garage

There are also specific exclusions in the regulations as to when building notices cannot be used. These are: * Where a new building will front onto a private street Ooh this bit worries me! The garage will be within two meters of a public highway but within my boundary by at least 500cm.

    Self build extension/garage

Cheers for that link freddy, I swear I was going blind trawling around that site. Woody, I've got the utility plans for here as I wanted to know about public drains etc on the property when I bought it and thankfully none are on my land. My own sewer runs out the back of the property towards...
