One way Dimmer Switch - four wires.

I'm really not interested in arguing semantics with you on a forum...you obviously have more free time than I. I came here for some friendly advice which I've received, thanks to the other contributors. Steve

Thanks for your input, but you've jumped to several incorrect conclusions, this installation is not what I expected hence the post for assistance...I know my limits and have decided to contact an Electrician. To everyone who has responded and helped without being rude, I thank you for...

One way Dimmer Switch - four wires.

I'm quickly coming to the conclusion I need to get a sparky out to rewire this mess  But...I can pull the 5a fuse on the old Wylex (hence the rewiring thought!) to isolate the downstairs lights. Unfortunately this does not include the conservatory or back porch which are on the...

As far as I'm aware, the live feed comes directly via the 30a fuse in the box. Yesterday I managed to contact between the two black wires after thinking I'd isolated the lighting circuit! Not happy as you can imagine...that blew the 30a fuse. Steve

    Right tool for the job?

Ouch, looks like an ex-girlfriend had a lucky escape then...she used one of my favourite wood chisels as a screwdriver a few years ago and managed to break it in half?!?!?! Still can't work that one out to this day! Steve

My biggest shock yet.....Always prove dead!!

Yes, they've given me a buzz or two in the past  Nearly had another one today. Took the lighting fuse out and proceeded to disconnect an old light switch...wires out so I set about tidying them up, managed to briefly contact the two neutrals and bang! Thankfully no shock to...

    Garage storage space/floor

Thanks for your response :) Yes...a good idea. There won't be anything too heavy as individual lumps, I doubt engines will make it up there! But the whole lot might get heavy over time...as storage areas tend to become overloaded  The joist hangers are rated to SHORT TERM UPLIFT...

    Garage storage space/floor

Hi All...first post and hoping to gain some advice or confirmation that my plan is ok...and not some foolhardy mission! I have a large (and high) garage with two "toy" cars and workshop. Unfortunately(!) recent purchases of lathe, large pillar drill and all the other accumulated bits 'n' bobs...
