The shower switch yuo have installed is fine to be left wired backwards. All that happens when you pull the switch is that two sets of contacts open or close. That said, I'm a sucker for perfection and I wasnt happy leaving ours as it was, but I couldnt be bothered wrestling with the thick wires to manipulate them into the right holes again. It was at my parents house.
If you're happy, leave it. Disconnect the neon if you like, but this would involve opening the switch up - and you might as well rectify the problem then!
