Garage Roof Strength/Material

I'm trying to work out what the roofing sheets are made from on the garage at our property.

They are leaking in various places where the bolts to hold them to the internal frames have been drilled thru, and there are also a few cracks running off these holes which seep water when its raining.

Ideally i'd like to get up on the roof and seal these bolt holes/cracks with something like epoxy, but i'm not sure of how strong the roof is for me to be standing on it.

The sheets are corrugated in construction, and made from a greeney colored fibrous looking material thats hard to the touch. I'd say it feels like concrete to tap, but looks fibrous if that makes sense?

Any ideas what this stuff is? and how strong is it for me to be standing on it to seal up these leaky bolts?

I could snap some photos of the sheets/leaks/cracks if that makes it any easier?

may be wrong but they look like asbestos sheets, not strong enough to stand on and potentially dangerous if you break them..

Hmm, thanks for that.

I'll try applying silicone the cracks from inside to see if that will seal it, but i suspect sealing it from above would be better, i just cant see any easy way to get to them without climbing onto the roof itself...

Maybe a ladder and a paintbrush on a long stick would work

Do a search for 'liquid plastic roofing' there are various companies out in the market - and you should find a material called a 'fibre embedment coating' - this is a brush on application, normally applied to the external face of the roof, but this could just as well be used on the inside and would be an ideal material to use as band-aid for your roof.

I`d apply that on the outside. Brushing asbestos sheeting from inside might not be advisable.

Hi there, well my guess* is that they are actually non asbestos cement sheets. I'm an asbestos surveyor and your sheets look too pale and new, though the only way to test is to have a sample looked at.

Inside your garage can you see any printing on the sheets, normally on the edges? You are looking for a printed stamp with 'NT' on it.

Either way they are very fragile and DO NOT walk on them.

* Based on your photo - please dont take that as gospel and assume they don't contain asbestos.

I'm repairing these all the time,nothing sticks good to the outside of these but it does on the clean inside .I use flashing tape,i cut a managable strip then play a gas torch over the tar side.I then pick it up on a corner (using gloves of course, its going to be flipping hot!)then wack it on the split and smooth it in.
Using waterprof clear silicone is good for the hook bolts.
