I have a Worcester 14/19 CBi fitted at home and I've been told I need a new boiler. i had problems for several month igniting and it has now stopped igniting altogether. The engineer who came to look at it told us the boiler needs to be replaced. Can anyone recommend a replacement boiler.

Many thanks,
Joe

you must at least get a reason of him WHY it needs replacing? what is wrong with it, what parts does it need....? or does he not know? just trying to sell u a new boiler? get someone else in for a second opinion, or call worc bosch for a fixed price repair maybe? ( although not too sure how much that would be)

Hi kitch and Steve,

Thanks for your reply!!

We just bought this house several months back and it had lay empty for nine months before we moved into it. The guy who came out to repair the ignition problem opened the boiler and he found a lot of rust inside. He said water had got in from laying unused for so long.

Got a repairman from Phoenix Gas and he said it was the Heat Exchanger that was damaged and fair play to him he said it would be much cheaper to have Worchester fix the problem. Their call out charge is £210 including vat and parts for the repair. It now from first quote with new boiler £1200 now the cost is now only going to be all together including Phoenix and the first guy that was out less than £300.

Thanks! Steve and Kitch for your advice and getting a second opinion.
