The only way I can stop my Danesmoor 20-25 oil boiler from running is by turning the power to it off. The old ACL lifestyle LP522 does not seem to be firing it up or turning it off it appears to have a mind of its own for the last week.

Anybody got any ideas on what i should look at first?, then second, third etc.
Please don't tell me I should just renew it all

Thanks

Usually a sticky zone valve, particularly the 2 ports.

Look for one of these, give it a bang

Also go and check no little fingers have tinkered with the frost stat if fitted.

The most plausibe explanation given here, is that by 'Lectrician'. Elderly 2-port valves are quite prone to 'sticking' on the micro-switch where the permanent live would act independently of the programmer command.

It's possible for a frost 'stat to override the programmer, of course, but surely not in the merrie merrie month of May.

Further: a decent frost 'stat would be 'tinker-proof'.........

I had to replace a LP722 last week for a similar fault; found the CH relay had the common & normally open contacts welded together.

Well i haven't had a chance to see what it is yet but hopefully will get a chance to look at it tomorrow. thanks for all the comments.
