hi, i have 6 ladders, different styles/ sizes. anyway could do with some kind of marking on them e.g: name, postcode anyway was just wondering if anyone knows of anything that would do a good job of marking them, i though about using gloss paint but then it could wear of and look messy. so could do with something, clear to read and thats hard wearing. any advise is welcome. thanks.

Branding them, (pyrography) assuming they are wooden ladders, a very large soldering iron would do the trick.

well yeah i didnt think of that. as 2 of my ladders are wood. rest are alloy. thanks.

get some brass or aluminium plates made up with your details stamped on them, then screw / rivet them to the ladders..
if screwing make sure to use security screws so they can't be easily removed..
also don't screw / drill any structural members of it..

You could purchase a set of die stamps and stamp your postcode on the side of them. Alternatively (maybe an expensive option?) is to have them done with Smartwater ® Some police stations can do this.

use a dremel to engrave details, then spray over in bright colour so it shows up better at distance

just spray them in odd colours so it isn't worth a thief's time to remove it.
