i am installing a boiler to a house that from the gable end has a 4ft passage then a garage. the passage has now been covered and has a permanent roof. the boiler is going in what was the outside cupboard where the gas meter is. the person who bought the boiler was given a wall teminal, and we want to go through the roof. why they did nt get a roof teminal i dont know, the customer because of cost has asked why cant i send the flue pipe through the roof put a 45 deg bend on, then attach the wall terminal end. by the way this flue pipe is about 4/6in away from the house wall, but the products will be directed away from the building.
is this configuration legal, if i cant change his mind abbout the correct method.
also
is a tundish for the prv compulsory.

thanks

Sorry mate, but you are installing a boiler and don't know the regs regarding prv discharge and flue installation. Read the MI's regarding flue installation of your boiler, and any deviation from this is not allowed.

the MIs dont talk about a tundish, they just tell me hos the discharge must go, which i already knew. the flue position i already know, but my question was concerning the configuratuion that the customer said he wanted after he had spoken to a friend of his whom he said knew. i was not about to take the word of someboby who knew somebody. my gas safe licence tells me i know the regs, but this configuration the regs dont talk about. that was the question. even the regs dont say that a tundish is compusory.

So why do you think you need a tundish?

the flue position i already know, but my question was concerning the configuratuion that the customer said he wanted after he had spoken to a friend of his whom he said knew. i was not about to take the word of someboby who knew somebody.

Yet you are happy with a response from a random goy on a forum?

my gas safe licence tells me i know the regs,

This threads tells us otherwise

but this configuration the regs dont talk about. that was the question. e
ven the regs dont say that a tundish is compusory.

I don't quite understand the position from the Op, but i am sure it is covered.

If you are GS regisitered, then get signed into the CC, when most of us would be happy to help. It sounds as if you are short on experience, but we all were once. If, however, you are not a RGI for boilers, then get some one else in

as said you need to read manu INSTRUCTIONS.

at a guess i would say no you cant do this because gerally that sort of flue system is not designed to go outside but each manu will give instruction on all their flueing options

a tundish is not compulsary aslong as the termination point is visable and the manuacters dont require one in their INSTRUCTIONS

can you see where this is going.........................................................

READ INSTRUCTIONS and comply with them

well expertgasman you are wrong, i am registered. i dont do installs, i just do swervice and repair, this time i got talked into the install because it is a family member. so those who think otherwise are WRONG. and as one person said we were all enexperienced at one time, and if that is your response in helping! i am disapointed. im sorry we are not all as fully clued up with ALL things as you are expertgasman, so maybe i will strive to as good as you one day. seems as though your response was sign on to CC, maybe you should stay away from this site, if you dont want to share or help. but let me add, if i can help someone with a problem that to me is better, than you response.
to you gas service, i thank you for your input, you do confirm what i already guessed, but a second opinion is not a bad thing.

You really aught to know the answer to this whether or not you install or are a service engineer.

In fact, as a service engineer you should be more aware in order to pick up on faulty installations.

As a serviceman, you are still required to have a knowledge of fluing requirements

and as one person said we were all enexperienced at one time,
I think you will find it was me that posted that as part of my response!

I'm trying to work out exactly what you are trying to say, but it is difficult. The truth is that we can not give gas advice on this section, it is against forum rules, but maybe it is stretching it to nclude your query in this. My point was really that if you signed into the CC, it would validate your status, and we would all be more willing to help.

If true sounds like another case of giving registration away free with a lucky bag.

OP if your genuine walk away cause you clearly aint got a f##king scoobi let them get someone who knows what they are doing and knows even the basic terminology
