I need something to use instead of a traditional casement stay on a very narrow window. the frame is approx 200mm at most, so it is too narrow for a normal stay. What can I use instead?

How tall is your window? Could you use a normal casement stay, mounted vertically? The joint should allow you to use it in this alignment; however, you might have to modify the peg to allow that to lie at a slight angle to the horizontal, so that the stay remains in place when the window is open.

Other thoughts that occur to me are: to shorten a normal stay (and make a new handle on the end); to use a quadrant stay or a fanlight stay, if one of those can be fitted appropriately.

the window is pretty tall, about a metre. I think I will try and quadrant stay.

cheers

I've also got this problem. although my windows are very small in height and width. I took off old 6" casement stays which need replacing but i can't find any that size anywhere... anyone know where i can find them or is there another option i could use?
thanks
