Hello All
I have just had a new radiator replaced due to rust and a leak, since then I have bled all other rads and to be fair most of the radiators are getting very hot, in fact i had a thermostat fitted to the new one as its in the back of the house and being closest to the boiler it has always got too hot, I'll try to give some info to see if you pro's can help diagnose the issue and I thank you for taking the time to help!
Problem is the boiler (Ravenheat Silver Star Combi) keeps on tripping out, so I have to remove the cap and press the button to restart it, sometimes its running for hours and others its not so long but happened at least once on each of the last 3 or 4 days.
Earlier I checked it was on and firing, it was, I went upstairs and switched the hot and cold tap on to run a bath, 4 mins later I go to check it and it's ice cold so I wondered if running the taps is having an effect on the trip, is that possible?
I have noticed the front radiator isn't getting quite so hot at the minute but there appears to be no air in it though it has always been the most difficult, I got it added to the system when I bought the house along with the boiler.
I am no plumber but I've always wondered if the layout of the circuit is part of the issue as every rad downstairs (4) comes from upstairs, is that good practice? 3 of them are close, 2 in through room and one in hall with the back one a good 6-7 meters from the next closest.
The other thing to note is that pressure rises on the boiler from 1 to 3 when the heating is switched on though I have read that this can be quite normal?
Could this happen if the system isn't balanced i.e. some rads getting much hotter than others? I believe all but the front one are getting red hot despite the dial on the boiler being around the halfway point.
Any help or advice as to why it could be happening is most welcome
