New combi (poor gas supply)

You're right, we don't know, so until we do we can only guess hence the question mark at the end of my comment.
I doubt that we will find out, I guess that the OP was thinking that if there was a 15mm inlet, then 15mm would be good for the full length of the pipe but we are only permitted a pressure drop of 1mB between the meter and the appliance..

The performamce of some boilers is pathetic when compared to the "efficiency" values used in the marketing of boilers to the general public.
Well the OP wasn't interested in efficiency, he'd have fitted a cow pat if he thought that he could fit a 15mm gas supply to it..

Dan, what would the pressure drop over 30M be for a 22mm gas pipe. I've got a 28Kw Ariston that's running in 22mm over 16M, and works fine. If the OP wants a decent setup, he's going to have to bite the bullet somewhere.

Point taken, but in my case, there's only a gas hob as well as the boiler in the place, so the boiler pretty much gets as much as it wants. But you;re right in terms of what else the OP has.

To give you an idea... The last flat SWMBO and I rented had a 28kw Turbomax and a freestanding cooker. Honourable MIL was staying with us and was cooking on a gas oven for the first time (they don't have them in the motherland). She went for a shower.

I came home from work and had a bit of a scare.

Not MIL in the shower, but the stench of gas as the oven has gone out when the boiler fired. Due to the cretinous landlord not having a safety check done, the safety device wasn't working on the oven so just pizzed had into the kitchen when MIL turned the shower off.

Irrelevant

The true efficiency may be irrelevant to the installer who doesn't have to pay the gas bills for the life time of the new boiler.

How do you know he isn't interested in efficiency ( true efficiency and not the market hyped efficiency ratings )

As a GasSafe Registered person you could have carried out a gas safety check. It was you and your family at risk, not the landlord. Or was this before you registed as GasSafe ?.

We've done installs before where supply pipe size looked borderline (having warned customer that a new run 'may be' required at £x's), then upon commissioning, several working pressure tests carried out because the results where just inside permitted levels - just to be sure.

It's irrelevant because this is a thread about pipe size. Why you have to stick your unqualified pompous oar in to bang the drum for your own blinkered views I don't know.

I subsequently did. Then bought a house. Oh, and it was CORGI then brainiac.
