I've always rated the products by Autoglym......probably the best, in my opinion.
Anyway, I came across Autoglym Magna the other day - its meant to remove metallic deposits (i.e brake dust and whatever) from paint and glass. After the car is washed, its sprayed on and left for a few minutes. If it picks up anything metallic, it turns dark red.
So - Bipper van, metallic silver, 67 plate, 6k - washed as normal, and Magna applied. After 3 or 4 minutes, the whole front of the van was beetroot purple
Washed the stuff off with the usual shampoo and the difference is amazing! It doesn't say that waxing is necessary afterwards and the finish is brilliant. Recommended!

I tried a bottle, on my white car... as you say!
Washed it off after a few mins as per the instructions, then gave the car a spray with Demon Shine, then chamois dried it off. Looks great, thanks for the recommendation :)

Most welcome! I'm hoping the bonnet doesn't disolve in a few weeks, and considering how the wheels cleaned too I'm wondering how agressive the product is. For sure it's made a difference to my vehicles.

Have you got a problem with metallic fallout in your area? I can't recall this problem since the 70s when we lived near a railway line. Have you tried their UHD polish and shampoo? Is it worth the great price?

The debris seems to come from brake pads and so on, probably worse since they became asbestos free.
I have made the idiotic mistake of using an angle grinder to close to a car and this stuff lifted the debris off , much to my relief! For washing I use the green shampoo and conditioner and also the resin polish. The other stuff I rate is the motorcycle cleaner - lifts flies off a treat and great on screens.

I'm more into Meguiars these days, the solid wax is excellent.

That's good to know! Although careful with angle grinders, I have a wall-mounted bench grinder in the garage and forgot that the car was parked too close to it when I was sharpening a drill. I now have some grinding spatter on the front bumper. I'll give that a try.

I know this thread is years old, but this is the point! Does Magma eventually damage the car / wheels John, or is it magically effective and "soft on your hands" as well?

Asking as I have washed my car this morning for the first time since before lockdown, and the crud that I still can't get off the alloys is depressing......

Happily I can report no adverse effects whatsoever using Magma.
I don’t use it that often - its expensive anyway- but I did use it recently and I was certain there hadn’t been any grinding nearby at all.
Once again, lots of grot came off the bonnet and screen particularly and I can only put that down to brake dust or whatever that we unknowingly drive through.
So with that treatment plus Meguiars Ultimate Wax, thats great for me!
John :)

The Albanians in the village do a great job for £12...
-0-

If of course, they are still around...

Cheers John:)

Sorted the wheels out, might use it over the body over the weekend (although it is pricey!).

Now all the brake muck is gone, it's now revealed the tar (probably from all the re-chipping that's going on around here)!
I've shifted tar with baby oil before, so that's another job I'm relishing:eek:

For tar removal, I go for white spirit on a microfibre cloth - just giving the tar enough time to dissolve before rubbing it away. Scratches appear to be non existent but its a coat of Meguiars after.
John :)
