Our cold water has stopped in the kitchen sink

Underneath, there's no chance of anything being turned like a valve - I've checked and all looks OK.

Hot water runs OK.
When hot water is run, I can feel both feeding pipes, hot and cold running water.

Would this indicate that the cold tap is faulty?
It stopped 1 day ago.
Before that, the tap was stiff... still is... not sure if that had anything to do with it.

Any ideas what I can do before I contemplate replacing?
(Assuming this was the problem.)

Thanks.

I take it the kitchen tap is direct from the mains? and that you have a cold water storage tank in the loft. If your cold water tank in the loft is refilling, then you have a faulty tap.

If you have a combi boiler and the hot is working then you have a faulty tap.

Andy, we don't have a tank.
Guess it's a faulty tap?
Just wanted to ask before trying to fit a new one
Thanks

Best give us a pic of the tap, I think.....some of those plastic topped ones have stripped splines, so the top turns but the valve itself doesn't.
