Hi guys, having read some of the posts and seeing how helpful you lot have been I'm hoping for some help and hoping I'm missing something stupid.

I attached a drawing of what i'm challenged with.

This light setup is on the landing and works fine on a single switch upstairs but I wanted to add a switch downstairs to create 2 way.

I looked at the wiring diagrams and watched the videos, changing the wires in the first switch and ran the 3 core and earth between the 2 switches, nothing! the switches are doing nothing despite power running through them. I ve also tried the 2 cable and com in and out method and that didnt work.

Like ive said works fine on a single switch, I've run a contuinity test on the cable I ran and also tried this with a metre long cable with both switches at the point of the first switch.

brand new mkswitches all new cable and LED's. Also the Wago xl will have another 4 lights and switches run from it eventually thats why it exists :)

Last thought is its a faulty switch some how but im pulling my hair out now.

Please help.

Many an hour wasted by faulty new parts.

The switches appear wired correctly but I don't understand the ceiling arrangement.

This all it needs - earths all connected together of course.

Thanks EFL. Surprisingly both the MK the switches were faulty picked up 2 new ones this morning and worked first time.

I will therfore playing the lottery this weekend as buying 2 and getting both faulty has to be some kind of sign, just wish I knew what the actual issue inside them was but hey ho, we can see the light!

Just a thought, did you at any time during this process blow a fuse or trip an MCB?

I didn't the guy at my wholesaler was intrigued to say the least and took the switches apart only to find "half a mechanism" and put it down to bad manufacturing. He reported the batch so maybe a run of dodgy switches.

I'm not hugely surprised.... I ordered a MK 2-gang 2 way switch from TLC, and 1 of the gangs the L2 didn't function. Wen't to B&Q and got another, exactly the same issue!!

3rd time lucky.....!
