When our outdoor porch light is switched on, the ceiling light bulbs in the lounge glow faintly despite being switched off themselves. The switches are separate, although adjacent on opposite sides of a partition wall (one being in the hall, and the other the lounge). I would be grateful of any ideas/pointers as to where the issue is. Thank you.

What sort of bulbs do you have in these ceiling lights?

Other tan the dim glow do both lights appear to work as normal?
i.e. If you turn the lounge lights on does the porch light glow? Are there any occasions when one light won't come on if the other is in a certain position?
Have you had or done any electrical work recently?

Yes, everything appears to work as expected. But one evening when the house was in darkness, I switched on the outside porch light and at the same time the lounge bulbs became dimly lit despite being switched off themselves. I then operate their switch and they come on full as expected. I don't think it occurs in reverse.

We have only been in the property since the summer. I have only noticed since the darker evenings rolled in. There is no evidence of any recent electrical work having been done. Thanks.

Does switching the lounge light on/off make ANY difference to the porch when it's on? even just a tiny flick?
