Hi so got an alert that my living room pir (capture) had set my alarm off(luckily no bell box just testing atm) so turns out I had left the window open and the roller blind was flapping, anything I can do other than make sure the window is closed 59B3B61C-371E-45F7-A71E-97B130FEF811.jpeg

Re site the detector
If I move it to the left corner it will still catch it any other corner will be facing window, or do you mean away from the corner and on the flat of the wall, the door is on the right hand wall so could move it a foot to the left if advisable

Ok so tried moving the sensor a bit so it was pointing a bit more away from the window but the same result so if I mount it on the flat wall to the left say 6”-12” from the corner would there be any problem with it being fitted here, checked the manual/instructions online and nowhere does it say min distance from corners ?
Thanks

You can mount them anywhere that you like, they don't have to be in a corner, although they usually work better in a corner. I do wonder why you have the window open when the alarm is armed?

I live in an upstairs flat with good neighbours that notice everything. So should I have the windows closed when arming an alarm, never really thought about this

It is normal to close all doors and windows before setting an alarm. The alarm sensors can sometimes "see" air currents moving and interpret them as people moving. The sensor is really only reacting to temperature changes in its field of view.

If you believe that you need an alarm system then you also need to lock all doors and windows when you are out. Burglars can climb into upstairs windows. The neighbours may let undesirable people into communal areas. Physical security is your first and most important line of defence.

Well that’s set me straight, I never thought of this before always opened all the Windows in the morning, but will get into a routine now of keeping them closed when I leave.
Thanks

Not only that some insurance companies will invalidate claims if the property has windows or doors left open/ shut but unlocked.

The manuals I have seen from years ago and most recently show that drafts are not a good thing, usually picture representations of don'ts.

also likely to get birds in the house if windows left open, and opportunist thief's invited in.

Hi now I know I will follow the advice given and make sure the house is secure before leaving
Thanks
