evening all, this tap is leaking in our kitchen (its leaking where the two parts meet underneath the allen key hole) not too bad but is a case of turning water off and then using a allen key in the little hole at the back, would it be a o ring i need to get and replace with. dont want to take it apart and not get it back together, been there for 11 years and it twists around so assuming its just worn out

Could just need new O rings ,but you need to take it apart to investigate. Pretty much as you outlined ,water off, remove grub screw ,and it should separate .

If that part rotates then it'll have o-rings in there, usually 2 or 3. The trick will be getting the correct O-Rings. The trouble with that is using the existing o-rings won't get you the correct ones as they'll be worn out.

As suggested, if you know the maker then they should be able to supply the correct parts. If not then it'll be trial and error .... get some silicone grease for them while you're at it.

hi thanks for everyones replies, unfortunately we cant remember where we got the tap so no chance of tracking that down and no makers name on it. i will look at a o ring kit but take the point its probably worn so i will have to just give a bit of trial and error. thanks

Applying some silicone grease may reduce/stop it in the short term until you can get 0-rings for it.

You could take a decent photo of the whole valve unit into a kitchen supplier and ask if they recognise it's manufacture.
Not all o-rings are created equal and you'd be amazed at how often the o-rings in a mega-sized o-ring kit aren't quite the size you require.

Yes, they often use special sizes - not usually found in O ring kits. O rings are specified as an overall diameter, plus the thickness. If you have a digital micrometer, measure those two attributes, making an assumption that the thickness will have worn down a little, then track down a local bearing and seal specialist to source replacements.

evening all ive found out the tap is made my FRANKE, i just need to find the model. thanks

sadly after contacting central services and a couple of other places online i've basically been told they no longer stock the part and my best bet is to reach out to a local plumber.
Any idea on suggestions for 0 ring kits or will any do and then just take apart and just work my way through similar sizes.

Unlikely, but Lidl are selling an O ring kit ATM, it's not one of there better kits with a bigger selection, but maybe worth a punt.
