Hi,

Can anyone tell me the name of the "beams" that are used to support paving slabs for example. They are shaped like an upside down T and would be used to support slabs for instance for the base for an oil tank. Also does anyone know the dimensions of these beams.

Thanks in advance

Jim

they are called bison beams. Not sure about the sizes, a google search should give you more info

These beams are pre-stressed reinforced concrete. The depth of the rebate is usually exactly the thickness of a concrete building block. (ie 105mm) but the overall depth of the beam depends on the span and the anticipated load. Do a search on google for "beam and Block floor" and contact one of the suppliers. Once you give them the details, they can specify the beams (and blocks) required.

BTW. As with any project, it will pay you to get several quotes.
