Hi my daughter had a leak under bathroom sink which is took a look at. Just wondered why there would be two flex leads from each tap ? ( see pictures ) thanks .

1. Its a three hole tap. Left - hot tap (normally). Centre = discharge spout. Right = cold tap (normally).
2. They are a complete pain. Difficult to fit and to work on.
3. There is normally a rubber washer inside the nut by which each flexi connects to the tap. One connector has PTFE tape on it. This is not the correct seal, but if it works, why not?

1. That is the linkage to the pop up plug.
2. Inside the black bit will be a swivel joint, being a (usually) nylon ball fixed to the rod. This swivels within a housing (limited travel), and there is often another nylon washer with a concave surface which makes the water tight seal with the ball.
3. It might be:
3.1 As simple as tightening the nut which holds the whole swivel together (black nut above white tape).
3.2 But often it is the nylon washer which has cracked / broken. The only cheap solution is to replace the washer, but they are not easy to get. If you know the make and model of the tap you might 'phone the manufacturer and see if it is available.
