roofing job - what do you think?

Hard to tell from photos , my thoughts are flaunching looks to be weak soft sand/ same for corbelled brickwork on parapet/ crap filling in general. Valley tiles look too close,
Lead under apex/ bargeboards is too long and pointing of lead looks insufficient. Cannot see any bespoked lead. Really bad workmanship, sorry cannot even call it workmanship

While MyBuilder has positive reviews and uses measures to verify tradespeople, some users report negative experiences due to fraudulent reviews, poor quality work, and scam attempts that bypass the platform's vetting process. To mitigate risk, users are advised to carefully check individual tradesperson reviews for specific details, verify the reviewer's history, and trust their gut feeling if something seems off.

Potential issues
  • Fraudulent reviews:
Investigations have shown that it can be possible for fraudulent tradespeople to create glowing reviews for themselves to gain credibility on the platform.

  • Poor quality work:
Despite a tradesperson having good reviews, some users have reported encountering poor-quality workmanship that requires extensive and costly rectifications.

  • Scams and unethical practices:
Some reviews mention instances of pressure tactics, demanding money for work that was never completed, and fraudulent behavior that circumvents the platform's safeguards.

  • Difficulty in vetting:
Some users report that the platform's vetting process, while improving, is not as stringent as other services and that the platform has sometimes been unhelpful in addressing issues with dishonest tradespeople.
thanks for the cut n paste job; real expertise there. but agree, sometimes we all use these sites or trustpilot and even with good reviews and trusting our 'gut', sometimes we will get it wrong, sadly

You snidey ****. I look forward to hearing about your roof problems in the near future.

thanks actually thanks to the comments on this forum and eventually being able to look at gutter from above, was able to sort out the issue and clear the gutter and resolve the problem - because people did question what I'd said in my non-expert way

Danfre - thanks I'm not sure how much I can do about that but could raise issue of lead length and pointing if others here concur, but at least [unlike others here] it's very specific. It's a pointer to look for if/when things go wrong with it in future or if I have any other roofing work needed in future - and a reason to avoid this particular roofer in future. I'd rather know than not know I guess.

thank you for taking the time to reply, I do appreciate it

best

Have them do all the work properly, that is what they are being paid for.
Other people have told you it's all very poor .

it looks like a proper lash up to me tbh: silly little patches of mortar poor finish on chimney top, Very little pride in the work evident.

Would be easier to comment with some before pictures

Stevie88 thanks a lot for taking the time to reply. I dont have before photos of the roof [do have some of the fascia/soffits which showed peeling paint [and a couple of holes]- i saw them scraping this off off and it's now painted as shown in photos, so "hopefully" all ok but havent actually been up a ladder to inspect it up close...], only the video at https://photos.app.goo.gl/pnT44Sm1PekjhWZXA if that helps. I wonder what the holes are filled with??

A proper job to have a chance of lasting would need careful trimming out of rot, treatment with hardener and filling with 2part filler eg Ronseal

Thanks I can't see where the holes were at moment (scaffolding in way) but roofer did give a couple of options said was same price, one was covering (not the painted bit) with plastic capping which gets screwed in said he'd recommend that as less long term maintenance.

We did also have another roofer (who unfortunately wasn't available) look uo close who said most of soffit/fascia was actually ok not rotten (unlike a third who had recommended we replace the whole lot with new plastic soffits & fascia and do same at back and rear all without getting on a ladder.

Fair enough. What do you think of the work that has been done.
