I've got one of these (see pic) as the external grill on a utility room extract fan. It looks like my local wasps have made a home behind it. But I can't get this grill off and I am scared of breaking it. I have removed the two woodscrews at the bottom which seems to release the opposite edge but otherwise won't budge. Does the central grill come out separately or is the whole unit just a tight fit in the hole?

Grateful for advice.

It may have a load of silicone in and around it sealing and holding it.
Source a hew one and break the old one if you need to.

That’s a stock photo , not much help.

Near enough. We all know what a fan grill looks like...

For the OP - remove the fixing screws, then try sliding a paper scraper blade, between the wall, and grill. Likely, you will find it is stuck in place with mastic.

Thanks all for quick responses.

Sorry about the ‘dot’, it was normal size when I loaded it. Yes, it’s a stock picture but it is exactly the one I have, installed horizontally on the soffit board.
I thought there might be a trick to releasing the grill section but if there’s no magic, I will get a bit more brutal with it. Just slightly concerned at what might buzz out at me!

Thanks again.

I have the same, there's some little lugs somewhere - just lever the inner bit out from the bottom with a chisel or flat screwdriver.

Right so a gravity one wont help next time. Maybe wait until it gets colder as there wont be so much action.
