It is part of the van, it is a max reach of 15 meters so rarely do we need higher reaches, when extra reach is required we have our forrestry dept that we borrow those types from.

Yes they can. In these situations, the best people are always the ones who volunteer, whilst the duffers, who wouldn't be able to get other jobs, are desperate to stay. Your employer will.want rid of the duffers though, and so the situation becomes the opposite of what the employer wants, and he ends up offering more attractive redundancy terms to the duffers, which annoys the top tier workers.

That is the impression I got. When I expressed an interest to my line manager of our dept, he said he was shocked but that he would not be willing to take my application, I said that was unfair so he said he would take my application but doubts it would get past our big manager for approval.

I think I would be suited as my work ethics are so amazing, I go anywhere do anything at any time day or night at the drop of a hat. I love work and enjoy the rewards of my ethics. Top tradesman and top earner is just the way that I am programmed

Those aren't necessarily the skills you need for self-employment. I thought you had said previously that you didn't fancy it.
