Today, particularly, but yesterday too - the site has been slow/impossible at times to even load. Is it just me? My connection otherwise is running at full speed.

Same here.
Seems to be working as per this morning - maybe too many s.fix trolls were gallumphing about yesterday in their hobnail boots, slowing things down.
I’m still finding it slow.

Well, I'm in Yorkshire, and it's still slow, not working at all at times, and throwing up errors, lots of 'Oops', whilst typing a message.

Yep, same in Mid Wales loads of Oops.
I cleaned out the browser' cache, rebooted and it seems fine.
It similarly stop/go this morning, so I've flushed the browser cache - Fn + F5, on my laptop. It seems to have had the desired effect.
But only for a few minutes - now back to stop/go..
