All that for a parking fine. Anyone else would have just paid the fine.
Ooooh no.
Not when they try it on. With crappy signage and insufficient evidence they send and the old chestnut they've tried on with us three times now when you visit somewhere twice and they send you the first and last pictures of your visits and claim you've been there the whole time.
Then you complain to the BPA and they tell you these glitches with ANPR "occasionally happen..."
Once, you accept. Twice, you begin to wonder. But three times?
No way Hosé...
One company we dealt with had an interesting tactic. They conveniently failed to send out the first letter, called the Notice To Keeper (NTK). Part of the appeals process is that you have X days from receipt of the NTK to appeal the invoice, but if you haven't received it, how can you appeal? Therefore you miss the opportunity to appeal and are forced into paying the full amount. Plus, the company saves by not printing and sending out the NTK.
Crafty, eh?
These private parking enforcement companies are utterly evil. They have not a care in the world about anyone but themselves. They don't even care if they break the rules. They will risk breaking the rules repeatedly and then pay the fine if they get caught.
They hound people for money, then threaten them with legal proceedings and debt collectors.
Companies are supposed to halt debt collector proceedings if you are in communication with them concerning a debt, but one we dealt with didn't.
Most people pay just to get rid of the hassle of these companies and this is precisely why these companies take that high pressure approach.
Me, I now write one letter explaining why their demand for money is not valid and I demand they drop it. I explain that if they don't, they are most welcome to invite me to court where they can explain the situation to a judge and then the judge can decide if their demand for money is valid or not.
I never hear from them again.
