Triple glazing could be a solution to reducing external noise. But how do you solve the ventilation problem?

I think you're right - there really isn't a simple way to have ventilation and noise reduction at the same time, so the simple solution really is to avoid trickle vents, and just open the window for a short period of time - this also gives you a chance to smugly appreciate the 'turning off' of external sound as you close the window.

There is a way to have Triple Glazing and ventilation ...Simple answer is dont have Trickle vents! Use a PIV or MHEV system instead, or use acoustic vents ( but they will still let a certain amount of noise in)

However, if trickle vents are put in for ventilation, some noise will get in as well.
You are overthinking.

But if you are really concerned about noise, then trickle vents in isolation are not the only factor you should be considering.

Some trickle vents claim to be “acoustic”.

I’ve no idea know how effective they are.

I don't mind the initial outside noise which is the sea and wind. I mind what it is turned into - some kind of dull, lower pitched reverberation due to sound bouncing around the room. I am not even sure if this sound is due to reverberations. Maybe I could put some kind of acoustic foam on the walls. I wouldn't know what to put on the walls. I am allergic to carpets.

I've noticed that trickle vents, if just clipped into the frame, can be made a fair bit better in terms of noise reduction if the outer edge is sealed with silicon or whatever.
