Boiler replacement.

My father in law wants his old boiler moved out of the kitchen and into the bathroom cupboard and the tank removed.

Hes had 2 prices so far.

1, £2200

2, £4400

Both with hive controllers, not sure of the make of the new boilers quoted.

Bit confused with the price difference, number 1 seems too cheap to me?

Thoughts?
 
Maybe the cost of the boiler. Is one price independent and the other national firm?

Seems too cheap to me, too. Are they aware it's not a simple box swap job, but a move the boiler, and convert?

Get them to provide a detailed specification of what they intend to do for that price, including the boiler, make model.
 
Most top name boiler prices are much higher than a few years ago, but there are still things like a Gloworm Micracom. £521 inc vat.
There's a lot of copper to be weighed in there, too!
All depends on the situation, but it's probably only a day's work for a man and lad. Some could take 3x that.

A nice new big Vaillant would cost over £2000 , plus the 10yr warranty kit, plus the room stat for a couple of hundred more.

Just had a look the cheap price says a Baxi 830 for the replacement boiler.
 
Perhaps one guy is happy doing a quick efficient job and happy making £££ where as the other guy loves to look at BG prices and thinks he can get away with making ££££.
Re prices always make sure that whoever is quoting are quoting for exactly the same job otherwise it is completely pointless saying one is quoting this and other is quoting that

baxi 830 to buy alone is about 1300 quid so must be a relatively straight forward job to do if they are both quoting same boiler its very hard to see where the additional 2200 quid is coming from

Straight forward? Probably, its in the kitchen and the bathroom is above.
