So a new Welsh government, what will it mean?

Remembering we are talking about Wales, and the Irish do not need a passport to come to Wales, or the Welsh a passport to go to Ireland, and the boats that go between the two are not what I would call small. The only people coming into Wales in a small boat would be on the canal system. Both the Dee and the Seven have bores, and one would need to be very skilled to cross either estuary.

As far as I am aware, Vietnam still exists. I do remember the Americans breached the international agreement and crossed the boarder, so all other countries left them to sort out their mess, and a war went on for some time.

But to come here by a small boat from Vietnam, I don't think so, from Europe yes, but they are not asylum seekers, France, Holland etc, are nearly the same as us, and once any asylum seeker has reached a safe country then they are no longer asylum seekers. So a stowaway in a large boat, or even crew from a large boat coming ashore yes, could be an asylum seeker, but would be called an asylum seeker, crew, stowaway etc. Not boat people.

I got a ferry back from Belfast a couple of years ago. No passport needed at any point, not even ID.

A British bloke I was chatting to had toured on his motorbike from Germany, via Republic of Ireland, all without showing his passport once.

There were some people on the same boat that didn't seem to be able to speak English.

I suspect this is a very good route for those wanting to break in, there's probably lots going on completely invisibly to the authorities.

The small boats are just the visible part of the invasion.

And yet, that is what the migrants from Vietnam were famously called. Go figure.
They escaped by boat to nearby islands and countries.
Then they spent years in a refugee camp.
Then countries, e.g. USA, UK, France, Canada, Germany, Australia, Sweden, etc. took their pick of which refugees they would consider for asylum.
Some countries, e.g. Australia, Canada preferred young men capable of working.
Others preferred young females.

Many of them from South Vietnam would spend years in refugee camps, mainly in Thailand.
Those from North Vietnam escaped to Hainan or China.

Many died en route.
It's probably about 150 kilometers from Vietnam to Thailand by modern ferry, about 10 to 15 hours, from the nearest Vietnamese point.
But small boats in those days would take days, if they had sufficient fuel. If not they could be drifting for weeks, at the mercy of fishermen turned pirates.

Many were killed if caught leaving.

Why do you think other countries allegedly "prefer" certain people according to your unsourced data but we shouldn't?

Are we the bin for the dross nobody else wants? Do you think this is a good way to run a country?

The best place for most people is where they were born. If it's not a good place to live then get together, overthrow the rulers and make it a better place for everyone there. If the fighting age males all run away then nothing will ever get fixed, things will just get worse in the world.
