Hi, we’re in a 1990’s Bryant homes in the model Victoria. There was a gas fire here when we moved in which we had capped and removed, leaving behind what’s in picture 1. When the surround is removed it leaves picture 2. We would like to remove the black metal insert and make a slightly bigger opening, similar to picture 3. Do you think the lintel is what I’ve marked in picture 2? It all looks a bit of a mess behind there!
