Fantastic idea.

Another fantastic way I have come up with is that my greyhound will have it's own social media following. I am giving it a youtube and Instagram account where it will become an internet social media sensation, pretty much like me in that respect. It will have hundreds of thousands of followers and I will sell advertising space on its coats and on the amazing clothing that it will be dressed in. You will be able to follow its arrival and training on a daily basis. I am a bit like Simon Cowell to this greyhound where it will be assured of a huge following. I will update lots of pics on here too for those who do not follow social media so they won't be left out of its progress into stardom. It is going to have a wonderful life.

Another way I was thinking is to set up another savings account and put the money each month into that. Then use that money if needed, if we don't use it each year then the pot builds until it is needed, It may be a better option as the money would always be availble and if never used or only partially used then it isn't dead money. Something to think about
If you needed to spend £5k on vet bills, could you find it without borrowing or severe hardship? If yes ..

I’d be tempted to go for one year insurance and then reconsider at the end.

If my dogs insurance went above £800 p/a. I’d self insure
