Hello everybody just registered, and would like a bit of info please, next week I am having fitted the above conventional condensing boiler, and I notice it does not come with a timer included.

When bought seperately it's about £60 or so, and will the unit operate without a timer doing it manualy or is it just a convenience to stop you forgetting to switch the heating on in the morning etc.

Regards Ravel

It`s not just a convenience it is a reg that some form of timer is fitted as well as a room stat.

Thank you namsag for your prompt reply, and I'm sure the qualified installation engineer will have it all organised, but I like to check on things rather than just stand there saying yes to everything :)

Regards Ravel.

I would not be so trusting of the installer. I suggest you ask him.

For the same price as the built in timer you can get a much better programmable thermostat to fit externally.

Thanks Tony point taken m8, but now I'm a little confused with the terminology, you say a external programable thermostat, and I was thinking of a programable on/ off timer unit, could you clarify for me please.

Its your programmer for setting times aswell as temperatures.

Get the worcester one, easy to install just make sure you fully understand how it works before your installer leaves!

Ah now I understand, thanks for that

Ravel, if your fitting the 30CDI then fit the DT20RF or DT10FR, if you dont like the digital formats then fit the MT version.

Nice choice in boiler by the way, but then I would say that I love Worcesters:cool:

clf-gas and rob884 thanks both all well noted and when this installer guy arrives I am not quite so in the dark now, and will request the items you suggest, rather than possibly him suggesting the hardware he makes the most profit on. :)

while the stuff mentioned above is good their is better for less money.not all installers are too worried about profit some make a good living while still fitting good quality products remember you have discussed your requirements/ preferences with the installer have you not?or are you another lamb to the slaughter  by the way worc boilers are my boiler of choice but their controls can leave a lot to be desired

With bripl on this the built in digital stuff on worceters can be way too complicated for the normal person, Its ok saying it will do this and that but most people only want a straight forward on an off and a stat that they can set and leave.. And from the original comment the OP thought £60 was dear some of what has been suggested costs £120 plus

True, must say I do spend some time explaining the DT's, thats why I quoted the MT as well. I find the MT better for the "older" customer.
