Hi, I could really use your help!!! where do i start.......
I have a baxi boiler system that was installed by the previous owners. We moved in three years ago. Up until Christmas the heating and hot water appeared to be fine, then we noticed the overflow leaking outside, we tried to fix it by lowering the ball-cock but it was old and rusted on so we had to buy a new ball valve and tank, unfortunatly the diy shop did not due the correct size tank so i had to get the nearest one. This split and caused a leak so a plumber came around and capped it off. Since then we have experienced a major noise a bit like cranking as soon as we turn on the heating and hot water, ( i might add that we also had the pump replaced as we thought this noise may be due to that). I have tried bleeding the radiators which made the heating work for a while, then the banging got worse and now we have no heating and no hot water exept from the immersion, the boiler has extinguished and i don't know how to make it work. I am really worried that because there is no overflow that this has caused the problem, and now the boiler has put itself out, the thermastat has also gone off is there a chance it could leak carbon dioxide, I have two children and im on my own and can not really afford a corgi engineer as the last one charged me £90 for half an hour plus pump.

Im really sorry for the long essay but i'm desperate for help, all ideas welcome i'm good at Diy so can try anything if explained in simpleton. Please please help!!! Tell me what to do!!! :(

What's the boiler?
Is it a sealed system or is there a cistern somwewhere feeding the system?
If it's sealed. check the pressure and top up if necessary via filling loop. SHould usually be about 1 bar.

No tank, any expansion pipe?,it sounds dangerous,no water in system, get it looked at asap.Who was the plumber? did he leave his horse in the garden?

DONT use the system untill a qualified engineer fits a new header tank as your system is running dry and doing it no good at all !!

What part of Beds are you ?
