  • hi Piersuk, it depends on a lot of factors. Now, all circuits within a bathroom must be RCD protected after you alter or replace them, and all concealed cables (less than 5cm deep) must also be RCD protected, so you must afford for this somewhere. The advice I gave was a bodge on looking back, it would be far better to fit a new consumer unit, but as long as everything is RCD protected (you only need one), the advice still stands, and yes you can use a 16 amp, or even a 10 amp, instead of 20 amp MCB, if the whirlpool is just using a pump.
