Timber screwed to bricks Acoustic insulation Resilient bar Now double plasterboard screwing boards to bars. It's not cheap although easy enough. Take some doing for the complete adjoining wall and about 130mm thick. That's 5 inches

Shared Wall I can hear my neighbours talking

Resilient bars fixed to timber frame. Pack with acoustic insulation. Double sound block plasterboard fixed to the resilient bars. Don't let the plasterboard touch wall or ceiling or side wall so leave gap and fill with acoustic mastic. Skim walls. Unfortunately sound will come through...

    Repeat prescriptions

They don't let you know if there is a problem. Maybe it was rejected so ended up in bin. We chase up after a few days as you can't sit back and wait. Normally a GP will sign off in 24h.

    Painting over Farrow & Ball

With durable emulsions or certain paints you need a primer or the resins in the emulsion can play up. The quality paints are not the same as a standard matt. I never had a problem with F&B although sometimes I used the cheaper acrylic primer undercoat tinted to match the F&B top coat. Always...

    Driving licence eye test?

Came in around August 2025. It's not compulsory yet although there is a tick on the application form. My mother in law ticked the box but she can't see. She won't wear her glasses as she says she can see fine but she can't, so I don't see what improvements can be made. They will be taking...

Can someone recommend a paint additive please?

Paint should stay wet for about 5 to 10 mins. You can add a splash of water to it which will slow it down If you have a 4 or 6 panel door you can paint the panels and let them dry and then paint the rest... It's a common problem. People including trades don't get the correct thickness of...

Can someone recommend a paint additive please?

Stop using a brush.. Use Uni-Pro High Tech Micro-Fibre 6.5" 4mm Nap and buy the yellow matching handles. Even better if you remove door and lay down as no runs.. You can fix legs on ends and flip door and paint door both sides straight away. You probably aren't getting the paint on thick...

Open windows bla bla... yeah that helps. 20lt dehumidifier is what you need. Run for 4 plus hours every evening. You need to draw the moisture out the walls and property and only a dehumidifier will do that.. We run two plus dry washing with it

    Rear discs, uneven wear pattern?

After taking asbestos out of pads they don't half eat in the metal disc causing groves.. Very often they change pads and discs because of this. Pads and discs are cheap enough to buy at around £80 for 4 wheels but unfortunately the labour rates have gone up crazy amounts.

    advice for very patchy lawn

Feed and weed in the spring. Fertilizer following guide once a month or whatever it says. Cut it long so you don't get moss. Water 3 times a day in dry periods. I think the watering is the big problem as most don't bother in summer.
