    Damp problem

Here a photo of the front door. I know its a mess, but it must be some sort of damp issue growth of the damp patches (not water ingress). I've considered using these: this product but it does not explain why I am getting a growing damp patch on my floor. Many thanks

    Damp problem

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have a damp problem and it is a bit unusual in that it appears to be spreading across the floor as well as up the wall. Only a small section of wall is affected. Does this sound like rising damp, or could it be something else given that the damp is also...

    External window cills

My shoddy builder made a mess of my tilt and turn windows and didn't install external cills. Does anyone know if there is a product that can be installed as an external cills without having to take out the whole window to install the cill? Thanks

    Lights

Hi I know this is going to be a really quick answer to the following question! I want to wire my wall lamp to a electric socket. The lamp has a neutral and live connection. If I want to connect it to a plug, do I just buy 2 core cable and wire it in? But what about earth? Does that not have...

    what trade do I need

I had an extension done to my home, but the builders didn't install a flitch beam as per the designs. Anyway, I am finding it next to impossible to find another builder to retrofit the flitch beams. Am I doing this wrong? Should I perhaps be looking for a roofer or some other trade that...

What are approved inspectors meant to do?

Thanks for the above. May I ask you for your opinion on the following: 1. The bco states that a beam is to be installed as it was not in place on a particular visit. He makes no mention to the builder that he needs to be called when the beam is in place AND that the beam cannot be covered...

What are approved inspectors meant to do?

Of course, but we are talking about different things. Why can't you accept that professionals have a responsibility/duty to their clients? Why is it any different for approved inspectors?

What are approved inspectors meant to do?

Also pity that so called "professionals" cant act professionally, rather than passing the buck onto the homeowner. They happily take the money, but when things so wrong, it is always someone else's fault. No wonder the building industry is in disrepute.

What are approved inspectors meant to do?

hmm, ok.... Although it is odd that even the government, in their document Building Control Performance Standards state: Remote inspection techniques such as the use of photographs, video or other remote media should not be relied upon as a complete alternative method of ascertaining the...

What are approved inspectors meant to do?

Also, there is no difference between the work done by LA and a private bco (apparently). So what is shown on the haringey website should be what my private bco should have done

What are approved inspectors meant to do?

so in your opinion, the BCO cannot be held accountable? He has no duty of care to me? Not even in civil law?

What are approved inspectors meant to do?

Private. It says it here on the haringey council website: What stages of the building works do Building Control need to inspect? There are up to nine mandatory inspections, however not all nine are relevant to some jobs. Please note that all of the relevant stages of work applicable to the job...
