Hi

I know this is going to be a really quick answer to the following question!

I want to wire my wall lamp to a electric socket. The lamp has a neutral and live connection.

If I want to connect it to a plug, do I just buy 2 core cable and wire it in?

But what about earth? Does that not have you be connected to the plug? If so, what do I do with it when connecting it to the lamp?

If the lamp doesn't have an earth connection, then nothing connects to the earth terminal in the plug.

If the lamp does have an earth connection then you will need 3 core flex and the earth must be connected.
