Hi all, Hopefully this will make some sense. I am about to replace an ordinary ceiling rose for a new fangled chrome light.
At present, the rose is wired like this;
a. One Twin and Earth cable - its Blue wire is connected to the Neutral terminal in the rose, its Brown wire is connected to a 'Loop-In' terminal in the rose, and its Earth wire to the Earth block.
b. One 3 Core and Earth cable - its Black wire with Blue band connected to the Neutral terminal in the rose, its Brown wire is connected to the 'Loop-In' terminal in the rose, its Grey wire with Brown band is connected to the Live terminal in the rose, and its Earth wire is connected to the Earth block.
c. The Lamp has two Brown wires, one is connected to the Live terminal in the rose and the other is connected to the Neutral terminal in the rose.
The new Light only has 3 terminals;
Live, Neutral and Earth.
Is it ok to connect the new light using a Chock Block?, and if it is, should I wire the Chock Block like this?;
a. The 3 Core and Earth's Grey wire with Brown band, and the Lamp's Brown wire to Chock Block section 1.
b. The 3 Core and Earth's Black wire with Blue band, the Twin and Earth's Blue wire, and the Lamp's Blue wire to Chock Block section 2.
c. The 3 Core and Earth's Brown wire, and the Twin and Earth's Brown wire to Chock Block section 3.
d. The two Earth wires, plus an extra one (because the new Light is metal and requires earthing) to Chock Block section 4.
What rating of Chock Box connector strip would you advise - 3A or 5A ?
Hopethat all makes sense????
Many thanks
