Problem replacing electric shower re water supply pipe

Maybe a chance this would help. Not entirely sure though. A straight on to the existing copper to this would extend things out...

Problem replacing electric shower re water supply pipe

That's correct. There is about 2" of copper pipe required to go into the elbow and up into the shower inlet. Really awkward to get a decent tighten on the elbow concealed in the wall a bit and this connection now isn't helped by the fact the pipe itself is slightly scored by me removing the olive.

Problem replacing electric shower re water supply pipe

Sorry, no not my house and I'm away now. I wish I'd taken one to post here Think a bit of straight copper coming directly into a wall from behind for a shower but the copper pipe stopping about 10mm short of exiting the wall.

Problem replacing electric shower re water supply pipe

Help pls?!! I was just about there with no problems then an ancient compression bend started leaking that was 50% set into the tiles/wall. It wasn't something I'd touched but I presume I disturbed it tightening the compression fitting onto the shower 2" above it. Couldn't get a tighten on this...

final connection to bath trap question

******** This has to be a wind up !! Thanks for your help! Light bulb just come on in my mind. I assume my very last connection is offering up the trap onto the bath waste outlet itself? I was concerned about how best to fit the glued solid 40mm into the trap thinking the trap would be...

final connection to bath trap question

Haven't any pics as still to finish a tee and bend that the bath 40mm is to go into. I'll only have a foot length of 40mm pipe from the trap so my concern was getting it into the fitting with little or no flex. Should I just be able to cut the pipe to the correct length and not need to...

final connection to bath trap question

My bath waste will be going onto glued solvent weld 40mm pipe from bath trap. What's the preferred way to make this last connection? Does a McAlpine straight connector let you slide it on to the straight pipe and then push it back to make that last join? I seem to have forgotten how best to...

To glue or not to glue

When I said glue, I mean solvent weld. I mentioned above that he 4 inch had a rubber seal so the pictured part going into the 4" isn't the issue. My question is mainly about the white plastic meeting the grey. I had to buy a 2nd flowplast grey 50mm adaptor (pictured) for where the white plastic...

To glue or not to glue

I bought one of these that is obviously a push fit into 4" pipe I have (I know this is not to be glued in as theres a rubber seal at the end of the 4"). I also bought the necessary (grey) reducer for it so as it accepts white 50mm waste pipe. Are you meant to glue the grey reducer into the grey...

Anyone recognise this valved dust mask? Would like more of them

That's interesting. My Drager is pretty old with twisted elastic covered in goodness knows what but I do use it from time to time, these days mostly with vapour filters rather than dust. Nice light paper type mask is surely always going to be a bit more comfortable to wear though

Anyone recognise this valved dust mask? Would like more of them

I've got a Drager mask with interchangable filters. Never find it particularly great in use. As you say, £18 for five only just over £3.50 each, so not too bad really and I'd say they are very, very good

Looked at JSP stuff but not sure which you mean. Mask that has separate filters?

Covering a capped gas pipe after having gas fire remived

It's true you shouldn't leave this gas pipe capped and hidden in filler in a wall. I had a gas fire taken out and pipe capped under floorboards. I believe this shouldn't be done either but probably like you my gas meter just had one pipe disappearing under the floor and splitting off somewhere...

Grouting wall/floor how to avoid staining one colour of grout with other

Ok, thank you. Think I was probably more worried after my last floor tiling job, a hearth with weber black grout. It seemed to stain everything!

Anyone recognise this valved dust mask? Would like more of them

Thanks. You're right not cheap eh? Have never found one so comfortable though. Also seemed to work brilliantly too. The second I've removed them I feel aware of dust I was avoiding

Grouting wall/floor how to avoid staining one colour of grout with other

Just a thought today, I'll be using a dark grout on floor tiles and feel concerned it'd stain the white wall tile grout. Still not done any grouting on walls as yet but vice versa the same risk seems to apply! What's the usual method of avoiding this? Obviously will only do one after the other...
