    Roof replacement?

Cheers for the reply. Will look into getting an independent surveyor in i think. Being fairly new to the area, i don't know anyone i would trust to give an unbiased opinion. From what i can see in the loft there's plenty of insulation but due to lack of head room i can't get into the loft to...

    Roof replacement?

This is the corner of the lowest part of roof. After driven rain we get a half moon shape on the inside corner of house, no more than 4" in depth if that makes sense. After finding out earlier that the loft insulation is wet on that corner i am concerned about how bad it is.

    Roof replacement?

Cheers Woody for the reply. I'm pretty sure it's wind driven rain that gets under the tiles. We have a continued issue after rain comes in from the North direction. I can't physically get into loft space due to very low roof clearance & i am too old. I did try & put my inspection camera across...

    Roof replacement?

Is it time to replace my roof. I think this is the original, so it's 56 years old. Had a few issues since moving in & one that is still not sorted out. Last time i had someone out who did the flaunching he said the roof needs replacing because of its age & they don't do these tiles anymore &...

    Water based gloss, which one?

Cheers once again for your advice Wayners. £60 HLVP are you allowed to say which one? Thinking ahead, i have a external wall to paint this year & possibly the lounge & dining room too, so a sprayer would be handy. I don't do cheap paints, but don't do very expensive ones either. Even though...

    Water based gloss, which one?

Which Gloss paint is good nowadays? I have a lot of previously painted skirting, doors & architrave to paint, don't know whether oil or water based paint has been used before though. Atm looking at Johnstone's aqua guard & undercoat, seems to be getting good feedback. Is it a matter of just...

    Peeling paint remedy

Another problem i don't know how to overcome. This i presume was where the old ceiling light was originally. I'm also assuming it's the original plasterboard too. I rubbed it down trying to get the surface flat(still not) & this is the outcome. Looks like hair protruding through. How am i...

    Peeling paint remedy

Cheers Wayners. Since getting a dehumidifier, we seem to have solved mould problem. I will try to check insulation in loft but access is extremely difficult due to lack of head room.

    Peeling paint remedy

What's the best way to sort this issue out. Had issues in this corner previously. Had ingress of water & mould issues there before. Hopefully sorted both problems now. Now got this problem to sort out. Is this the correct way to do it? 1. Scrape loose paint off. 2. Sand edges of paint. 3. Use...

    CWI guarantee CIGA

Unfortunately it was already installed when we bought the property so i don't know who installed it either. I would imagine the original installer is no longer in business now too.

    CWI guarantee CIGA

Cheers Woody for the reply. I must admit i was hoping as it shouldn't have been installed in the first place due to the house unsuitability, that i might have some redress that way.

    CWI guarantee CIGA

Is this the normal reply from ciga: However, CIGA is unable to guarantee the performance of the product once installed, and this is totally reliant on several other factors to include water vapour extraction, regular ventilation and adequate heating control. So therefore we will come out & do...

Got scaffolding up for solar panels to be fitted. Thought i would have a look & clear any moss of the tiles. Noticed this while i was up there. Is if something i could repair myself if so, best way to go about it or will i need to get a roofer in. Many thanks

Stop birds nesting under solar panels

No one is selling anything to me, but not far from us there is a property that has pigeons on it every time we walk past. I'm assuming they are/have been nesting their & i don't want them on my roof continuously, so looking for ideas.

Stop birds nesting under solar panels

Will be having panels installed in the near future & would like to know best way to stop birds getting under the panels. Still waiting for the installers to get back to me on it. Had a quick Google & seen galvanised mesh fitted all the way round. Is that the best way, if no what is? If yes...
