    Ground drill bits

I've always used Heller drill bits (mainly for the name) but I saw some Blue Spot hss drills in Tk maxx. Well for the money they are fantastic, they also do hss drills in individual sizes in tubes but they say half ground. What does that mean?

    Removing wood chip wallpaper

Thanks for the advice. We've been using a garden sprayer and using a formula of vinegar and cleaning fluid to break down the glue. It's worked a treat so for. We've avoided a steamer just because of the damage they can cause.

    2 Electrians differing reports

Just wanted to add in that I have had the NICEIC visual test report back and it states under general condition of the installation: Good condition. Under the declaration it states that the system is unsatisfactory but we were aware of that since it is old so the CU needs updating and it...

If that is the case then could we chase back to double check as an extra safe guard?

Thanks John. Re the status of the property it is indeed unoccupied at present. Can someone please indicate what would be relayed to me in an EICR. Many thanks.

    2 Electrians differing reports

Yes I agree I could get all that. Good point. See image below of my plan of the house. Sockets are circled in yellow and shaver socket in bathroom needs to be prepped. There are no light switches on there but we are happy with the current positions so they will all need replacing. I...

    2 Electrians differing reports

Hi John, The main contractor did indeed say we needed a full rewire and the emergency chap seemed to concur with that. It seems to me that we can replace the CU and replace all the internal sockets and switches and save some money in the process. Many Thanks.

    2 Electrians differing reports

Thanks for your response John. No he didn't do a report (Out of interest what does a report consist of? tests etc?) To add a bit more information. I went to the house on Tuesday in the evening and turned the power on to boil the kettle and spray some hot water on the wood chip to aid the...

    2 Electrians differing reports

Hi, I've been told by my main contractor that I need a rewire of the new house. Built in 1900 but rewired about 20 years ago. I am awaiting a quote for the job from the first electrician (4 bed terrace house) and I have been told between £2,500 to £3,000. My Dad said he didn't...

    Removing wood chip wallpaper

Hi, I have spent nearly all my spare time removing wood chip wall paper in our new house. A couple of questions: 1. Some of it comes off very easily, I mean you get a bit up and it is almost like there is a layer of air underneath and it just peels off in large sheets, I found this on...

House Renovation - My story so far

Hi Everyone, So I've taken the plunge and bought a really nice Victorian terrace house. It needs a lot of work but it has some good points, such as the Glow-worm boiler which I am told is really sound. My question is quite a simple one for people in the know. I have been doing as...

    Sanding Accesories

Hi All, First time posting. I am just about to over haul my house, lots of wood to work on! I am doing all the skirting boards and my living room wooden floor. I've also just bought a nice pine table and I need to sand the legs. What sanding tools would be best and just out of interest...
